Sensex opens up by 10 pts, kay shares later
Mumbai Oct 18: The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensitve Index (Sensex) today opened 10 points in the green at 12,893.03, on the back of strong buying support mainly from Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) and mutual funds.
Currently the Sensex is up 22.30 points to trade at 12,905.80 due to sustained heavy bull support from local operators in all the sectors except consumer durables and metals.
Major sectoral indices who are trading low on the BSE are Auto 0.42 per cent, IT down by 0.11 per cent and FMCG down by 0.78 per cent.
The profit booking is a result of cautiousness before other sectors go ahead with their second quarter results.
The pack of gainers is led by Satyam, which is followed by BHEL, SBI, Tata Steel, Wipro, ONGC, Hero Honda, Hindalco, Reliance Industries and HDFC Bank, all up between 0.05 to 1.10 per cent.
The losers include HDFC, Grasim Industries, HLL Infosys, NTPC, Tata Motors, L&T, Reliance Communications, TCS and Reliance Energy all down between 0.82 to 2.15 per cent.
