Mizo farmers demands monitoring cell

Aizawl, Oct 18 (UNI) To ensure the funds meant for the farmers reaches them properly, the Mizoram Cultivators and Labour Union (MICLUN) has demanded to set up monitering cells in departments dealing with the farmers.

MICLUN members here today said the monitoring cell should have at least one legislator as their member.

It also demanded that the farmers should get crop insurance in the event of crop failures.

Government should also do something towards the benefit of the poor farmers, MICLUN members added.
