Jain monk dies by fasting
Indore, Oct 18 (UNI) A 75-year-old Digamber Jain monk died today after having abstained from eating for about a fortnight -- he even stopped taking water for the past five days -- in accordance with the Jain practice of voluntary death through fasting.
Chint Sagar Ji Maharaj Tejkaran Jain was at the Neminath Jain shrine for some days and was being visited by several devotees. The practice, also known as 'santhara', led to a recent dispute in Jaipur and the High Court was moved.
