Kerala: India International Boat Show from Oct 20

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 18: The 'Vasco da Gama Yacht Rally' with 16 boats from Greece will come to Kochi this week, an added attraction to the three-day annual India International Boat Show to be held from Oct 20.

The fifth edition of the India International Boat Show showcasing the latest technology as well as some leading names in the marine industry will be held at the Le Meridien International Convention Centre, Kochi, Kerala Tourism Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan told a press meet here.

The 'Vasco da Gama Yacht Rally,' which left Greece a few months ago would set sail in Kochi during the show, Kerala Tourism Director B Suman said. They had set sail from Goa where they had come a few days ago, he added.

Mr Balakrishnan said the show would bring together the boating, yachting, fisheries, defence, water sports and aqua-tourism industries from across the world.

He said the show would provide a platform for 60 exhibitors to hold one-to-one meetings with buyers and explore growth horizons.

Mr Suman said the exhibition had grown over the years in a remarkable scale. He said one of the major attractions at the show would be the traditional boat building and fishing equipment.

The show would have special segments on leisure boating, marine equipment, marine engines and navigation and telecommunication aids.

The event had been organised by Kerala Tourism to provide a platform for players in the sector to interact, share ideas and strike deals and promote leisure and marine boating in the country.
