ICC denies to change venue of Champions Trophy final
Mumbai, Oct 18 (UNI) The International Cricket Council (ICC) today affirmed that it had no plans to shift the venue of the final of Champions Trophy slated to be held at the Barbourne stadium here on November 5.
Brian Murgatroyd, ICC Manager- Media and Communications told reporters here that the ICC has no plans of shifting the venue of the final, following the criticism of the pitch by some teams.
When pointed out that the former President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the president of the Cricket Club of India (CCI), Mr Raj Singh Dungarpur was supposed to have said that talks of a possible change in the venue for the final was on if the pitch did not play upto expectation in today's match between West Indies and Australia, the ICC Manager said it was the personal opinion of Mr Dungarpur and he is entitled to have one, but the ICC is clear that there would be no change in the venue for the final.
On the reports which the captains have made to the ICC about the wicket, Murgatroyd said each captain gives in a report after every match, but these reports are confidential and cannot be made known, otherwise constructive reports would stop coming in if the captain's feel that it would become public knowledge, he added.
