Heavy exchange of fire between BSF and BDR
Kolkata, Oct 18 (UNI) Border Security Force jawans and Bangladesh Rifles personnel exchanged heavy firing across the border in North Twentyfour Parganas district today.
BSF sources said altogether 900 rounds were fired during the hour-long battle near the Chhohotia border outpost under Bagda police station. '' BDR opened unprovoked fir, using about 700 rounds forcing the BSF to retaliate, '' the sources said.
Two people a woman and a boy, the Indian territory, were injured in the firing.
The sources said a flag meeting between the two sides was held after the firing ended.
They said this was the 15th exchange of fire between the BSF and BDR this year. The BSF would take up the matter with the Union Home Ministry.
