Government gears up to check corruption : Nitish
Patna, Oct 18 (UNI) Concerned over "rampant corruption", Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has mooted a mechanism christened " Vigilance Special Wing(VSW)" to launch a crackdown on the corrupt.
Talking to newsmen here yesterday, Mr Kumar said the VSW would comprise retired CBI officials, who will prepare dossier of all persons with asset disproportionate to their known sources of income, including huge residential complex, Bank accounts and unauthorised lockers.
'' The VSW will lay trap on the persons identified and nab them.
The judiciary has been requested to arrange for speedy trial of the DA cases. I have already urged the judiciary to help ensure speedy trial of those languishing in jails with petty cases, '' he said.
Mr Kumar said earlier the Cabinet Vigilance department had no idea about how to deal with the corruption cases. " It was perfunctory and directionless before I took over but now directives have been issued to strike at the root of corruption resulting in trapping of hundreds of officers, who were sent to jails, '' he added.
Referring to the arrest of Madhepura DM with unaccounted money to the tune of Rs 1.90 lakh in Patna recently, he said it bore an ample testimony to the fact how corruption was deeply rooted in the system.
'' We have also made arrangements for training of Gram Kachahari members by the district judges. The mobile court had dealt about 22,000 cases till August this year.
The two-day workshop on ''Speedy Criminal Justice System'' would prove a milestone in the history of criminal justice, he said adding the state government would not allow anyone to go scot free after committing offences, and rule of the law would be established at any cost.
