Election office directs voters to surrender extra EPIC by Dec 26
Santiniketan, Oct 18 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer Debashis Sen today warned that any voter, who is holding more than one Election Photo Identity Card (EPIC) must surrender the rest by December 26 or else punitive action would be taken against the offender.
Mr Sen, who was here to monitor the ongoing process of EPIC, said the State Election Office had information that many voters were carrying more than one EPIC. Many electors had managed to procure two EPICs from two different consituencies.
He said if they failed to surrender extra EPIC by December 26, the EC would launch a drive against them and initiate lawful action.
He said the state election office was progressing as scheduled to issue EPIC for 95 assembly constituencies by the end of this year.
For the remaining 200 Assembly consitituencies, the EC would do so phase wise, Mr Sen added.
