Duleep: Sourav's chance to prove his worth

Gwalior, Oct 18 (UNI) Bengal tiger Sourav Ganguly, who is trying his level best to regain a berth in Team India, will get another chance to prove his mettle when seasoned East Zone players under his command clash with Central Zone in a four-day Duleep Trophy encounter getting underway tomorow at the Captain Roop Singh Stadium here.

National Team Selector Venkatapathy Raju will witness the match as a representative of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

The encounter might also prove crucial for Rohan Gavaskar, Lakshmi Ratan Shukla, S S Das, Central Zone skipper J P Yadav, spinner Murali Karthik -- who lost his Team India berth owing to a shoulder injury -- and Piyush Chawla.

The teams, which did hectic net practice, are as follows: Central: J P Yadav (c), Naman Ojha (w), Murali Karthik, T P Singh, Amit Pagnis, Piyush Chawla, K Parida, Abbas Ali, Shivakant Shukla, Tanmay Srivastav, Sandeep Singh, Pankaj Singh, Praveen Kumar, Brijesh Tomar, Anand Rajan and Coach Praveen Hingankar.
