Dr L M Singhvi conferred Acharya Tulsi Samman

New Delhi, Oct 18 (UNI) Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat today presented the "Achrya Tulsi Annekant Samman'' on noted jurist and BJP Rajya Sabha MP L M Singhvi for his outstanding contribution to society The award was jointly conferred upon Dr Singhvi by the Jain Vishnu Bharti Ladnun and Mahadeolal Saraogi Foundation, Kolkata for his various social activities towards social upliftment of the mankind and removal of societal disparities.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Shekhawat recollected his days in the Rajasthan assembly when he had to move some legislation on a particular sect of Jainism but converted the bill into praise for the community. ''This was highly appreciated by all members of the assembly,'' he added.

Mr Shekhawat expressed full confidence about the ability of Dr Singhvi and said that now not only would he have to work harder for the people but also would have to contribute to society by writings to make the people understand the true meaning of Jainism.

The award comprises a citation and a prize money, Dr Singhvi announced that the money will be spent for the upliftment of the downtrodden as per the direction of Mr Shekhewat.
