Counting in Ward 25 kept in abeyance

Coimbatore, Oct 18 (UNI) Election Officer Arumugam (EO) today decided to keep the counting of votes for Ward 25 of the Coimbatore Corporation in abeyance for clearance from the State Election Commission (SEC) following complaints on seals on ballot papers.

The candidates complained that seals on votes polled by the DMK were affixed in the clockwise direction and said the ballot papers should be declared invalid.

Following this, the EO decided to approach the SEC for a direction.

The DMK candidate for the ward is Mr Payintamizh Pari who is the son of Former Minister Pogalur Periyasamy.
