Cong not to petition Kalam against Sorabjee: PCC Chief
Hyderabad, Oct 18 (UNI) The ruling Congress has decided not to complain to President A P J Abdul Kalam against noted legal expert Soli J Sorabjee's remarks about the Gouru Venkat Reddy clemency case.
On reports that the Congress was planning to complain, APCC Chief K Keshava Rao, MP, told reporters here legal expert (Mr.
Sorabjee) had only stated the Constitution position that the Governor was bound to go by the Council of Ministers' advice and there was nothing wrong in it.
He clarified that the Cabinet did not formally discuss the issue.
'After media reports, I spoke to Information Minister Mohd Ali Shabbir and got it clarified'.
After the Cabinet meeting was over, a Minister took objection to Mr Sorabjee's remarks in the presence of a TDP leader and wanted the party to take up the matter with the President, Mr Rao said, adding, the Chief Minister had cut short the discussion saying that it was not proper to comment against Mr Sorabjee based on media reports.
