BJP demands all party, CMs meets
Hyderabad Oct 18: Hailing National Commission on Farmers Chairman M S Swaminathan for coming out with a report of far-reaching implications to end food scarcity and suicide by farmers, BJP senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu today urged the UPA Government to convene an all party meeting as also a meeting of all Chief Ministers to implement the commission's recommendations.
With the world renowned agricultural scientist coming out with series of recommendations to make farming economically viable, achieve food security and increasing sustainability and productive of rain-fed agriculture, the Centre in coordination with all states should evolve a consensus and prepare an action plan to save the country from a ''muli-dimensional' crisis charactised by scarcity of foodgrains, edible oil and pulses and high suicide rate among farmers, he told a press conference here.
Ahead of the next Parliament session, a meeting of all Chief Ministers should be convened to discuss the idea of inclusion of the subject of agriculture in the concurrent list, he demanded.
