BJP condemns leaders who demand clemency for Afzal
Hoshiarpur, Oct 18 (UNI) Punjab BJP president Avinash Rai Khanna today strongly condemned all those political leaders including former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah for their opposition to the proposed execution of Mohammed Afzal Guru, the mastermind of the Parliament attack case.
While reacting to the recent statement of Mr Farooq Abdullah, in which he had showed apprehension and fear for the life of those judges who had sentenced Mohammed Afzal, Mr Khanna said such type of statement from a person like him would send wrong signals to terrorist outfits and anti-national forces.
It would create panic not only among the citizens of the country but also discourage judiciary, he added.
He said proceedings for contempt of court should be initiated against all such leaders who were opposing the death sentence of Mohammed Afzal and were demanding clemency for him. Besides, cases should also be registered against them for supporting trrorists.
He appealed leaders of all the political parties not to politicise conviction of Mohammed Afzal for their narrow politics to influence a section of voters of minority community for the forthcoming elections in four state assemblies at the cost of integration and unity of the country.
