AP Govt allots land for cricket academy

Vijayawada, Oct 18 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Government would allot 7.28 acres of land to Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) to construct a full-fledged indoor cricket academy at Madhuravada in Visakhapatnam.

According to former Vice-President of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and ACA General Secretary N Venkata Rao, the state Information Minister Shabir Ali announced it after a Cabinet Meeting chaired by Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy at Hyderabad recently.

Mr Rao said the ACA, would construct the academy with all modern facilities as specified by the BCCI National Cricket academy.

The ACA is likely to invite Dr Reddy and BCCI President Sharad Pawar for the academy's foundation laying ceremony next month.

The cost of the project would be around Rs five to six crore and expected to be completed in one year, he added.
