60 year-old man killed in chlorine leakage
Eluru, Oct 18 (UNI) A 60-year-old person and 15 cattle were killed, and 200 others hospitalised due to chlorine gas leakage from the cylinders of the chemical being carried in a vehicle which lost control at Gutala village this afternoon.
According to police, the people in the village suffered from breathing trouble and vomitting while an agricultural labourer died due to suffocation.
The mishap occurred when the lorry carrying the cylinders from a sugar factory at Saggonda to Kovvur lost control at Gutala village. The cylinders fell on the road and exploded. A dense smoke enveloped the village on the banks of river Godavari.
200 people, have been hospitalised at Tallapudi and Rajahmundry with complaining of breathlessness. The traffic is suspended on the route.
