133 veterinary doctors to be appointed in K'taka
Bangalore, Oct 18 (UNI) The Karnataka Government has decided to appoint 133 veterinary doctors in the next two weeks, Animal Husbandry Minister Revunaik Belmagi said today.
Talking to reporters here, he said there was a shortage of 837 doctors and the Government would soon come out with a fresh proposal to appoint 49 more doctors. A circular had already been issued for the appointment of 133 doctors, he added.
The Minister said the Government had planned to set up 69 new hospitals in the backward taluks in the next one month.
The Government would implement the Janashree Insurance scheme for sheep owned by Below Poverty Line families from next month, Mr Belmagi said, adding that over nine lakh livestock would be covered under the scheme.
The annual premium amount of Rs 60 would be paid with Rs 50 from the State Government and the rest from the beneficiaries. The owner would get Rs 1,500 on the death of a sheep, he said.
