11 rounded up for obstructing 'Virasat'
Dehradun, Oct 18 (UNI) Eleven Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD) activists have been rounded up for obstructing 'Virasat', an ongoing cultural programme being organised under the aegis of Rural Entrepreneurship for Art&Culture (REACH) here.
They were protesting the cancellation of the musical programmme of Uttaranchal's folk singer Narendra Singh Negi. UKD activists have announced not to allow the remaining programmes of Virasat to continue.
Mr Negi was to perform in Virasat on October 16, but his programme was cancelled. He has termed the incident a humiliating one and has announced to return ' Virasat Samman' conferred to him by REACH in year 2004 for his outstanding contribution to Uttaranchal folk music.
The UKD activists today burnt the effigy of the State Government and REACH at Clock Tower. UKD has also announced to hold a demonstration at Pauri on October 19.
