11 child labourers freed in MP
Bhopal, Oct 18 (UNI) Eleven child labourers including ten minors, from West Bengal were rescued by the Labour department from the Sarafa area of Indore, official sources said today.
Of the 10 children from West Bengal, 5 belonged to Burdwan, three to Midnapur and one each to Hooghly and Howrah districts. They were sent back to their home districts by the Indore-Howrah Express train accompanied by Deputy Labour Commissioner Dr Vasudev Sarkar and 4 Labour Inspectors.
These children were produced before the Child Welfare Committee constituted under the provision of the Juvenile Justice Act 2000 for the rehabilitation of freed child labourers, the sources said.
The Labour Commissioner of Madhya Pradesh has also contacted his counterpart in West Bengal for the rehabilitation of these children, the sources added.
