Tech Madhu shifted to Hyderabad

Warangal, Oct 17 (UNI) Tech Madhu alias Srinivas Reddy, the key accused in making rocket launchers and other arms in Tamil Nadu, surrendered in Gudur police station in Andhra Pradesh today along with his wife Sudharani.

According to sources here, Raghu, also called Tech Madhu for his expertise in technology, was the brain behind manufacturing rocket launchers. The launchers were despatched to Andhra Pradesh after being manufactured in Tamil Nadu. The sources said, Tech Madhu was being shifted to Hyderabad this evening.

Sometime ago, police had recovered rocket launchers and a cache of arms from a transport company in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam and investigation revealed that they were being made in a factory at Chennai.

Later, police handed over the two, said to be close associates of CPI (Maoist), to special intelligence police for interrogation.

He was good at technology, which gave him access to the top brass of the PWG, sources added.

Tech Madhu went underground in 1986 and became a techinical adviser to the Maoist party since 1997, spending most of his time in Nallamala forest area. He married Sudharani in 2003 and the couple left for Chennai.

Investigation of the case revealed that Sudharani was an associate of the PWG group and hailed from a village near Ongole in Prakasam district in Andhra Pradesh. She had been at large since September 9, along with Raghu who was suspected to be the brain behind manufacture and despatch of the weapons to Andhra Pradesh during the last two to three years.

The CPI (Maoist) has reportedly spent nearly Rs 17 lakh to manufacture around 1,000 rocket launchers.
