Soz discusses power and water problems with Bhutanese leaders

New Delhi, Oct 17 (UNI) Union Minister for Water Resources Saifuddin Soz held discussions with Bhutanese leaders and officials about the execution of 1020 MW Tala Hydro-electric project and Wangkha dam site besides visiting Bhutan's first major Chukha Hydro-electric project capable of generating 336 MW power.

During his recent visit to Bhutan, Prof Soz also called on Bhutan King Jigme Singye Wangchuck, Prime Minister Lyonpo Khandu Wangchuk and other leaders to discuss execution of hydro-electric projects and issues concerning water resources, an official release today said.

The King, during the meeting, expressed his gratitude for Indian support to set up hydro-electric projects in Bhutan and for the assistance in other areas.

Prof. Soz had, on his part, assured the King and the other Bhutanese functionaries that India and its people were deeply interested to promote and strengthening the age-old relations with Bhutan.
