Saudi Ambassador exhorts cooperation in education sector
Aligarh, Oct 17 (UNI) Saudi Ambassador to India Saleh Mohammed Al-Ghamdi today called for closer cooperation in the education sector between the two countries.
Speaking at a commemorative meeting on the occasion of Sir Syed Day organised at the Aligarh Muslim University here, he said Sir Syed was a visionary who tried to inculcate a scientific temper blended with rationality of outlook.
He said Aligarh Muslim University was not only one of the largest institutes of education in the country but also one of the best.
''There should be closer cooperation between Saudi Arabia and India, specially the Aligarh Muslim University,'' the Ambassador added.
''Large hearted tolerance, which is of great significance in today's strife-torn world was emphasised upon by Sir Syed,'' Mr Al-Ghamdi added.
University Vice-Chancellor Naseem Ahmad too remembered Sir Syed Ahmad Khan and said,'' Sir Syed was a true patriot who fearlessly stood against the oppressive policies of the Britishers.'' Earlier, Mr Ahmad inaugurated an exhibition of books, portraits and other literature on Sir Syed.
