Puttur records 8 cm rain

Bangalore, Oct 17 (UNI) Following is a summary of observations recorded by the weather office at 0830 hours here today.

South-west monsoon has further withdrawn from remaining parts of Karnataka State. Conditions are favorable for commencement of North-east Monsoon rains over Karnataka State during next 2-3 days.

Rainfall occurred at a few places over Coastal Karnataka and at isolated places over Interior Karnataka.

Puttur recorded heavy rainfall of 8 cms. Other chief amounts of rainfall (cm): Mani, Mudigere 4 each; Belthangadi 3; Dharmasthala, Srinivasapura 2 each; Mulki, Subramanya, Gokak 1 each. Maximum temperatures changed little over the State. They were above normal at most places being appreciably so at a few places over Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka and above normal at a few places North Interior Karnataka.

Minimum temperatures fell at a few places over North Interior Karnataka and changed little over the Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka. They were above normal at a few places over Coastal Karnataka and were normal over Interior Karnataka.

Bellary recorded the highest maximum temperature of 35.5 degree Celsius and Bijapur recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 19.8 degree Celsius over the State.

Forecast valid until thursday morning: Rain/thundershowers likely to occur at isolated places over Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka. Mainly dry weather may prevail over North Interior Karnataka.

Farmers Weather Bulletin: Light to moderate rain likely to occur at isolated places over Dakshina Kannada, Kolar, Mandya, Mysore, Chamarajnagara, Bangalore Urban, Bangalore Rural districts. Mainly dry weather will prevail over remaining districts of the State.

Forecast for Bangalore: Generally cloudy. Maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 30 degree Celsius and 20 degree Celsius respectively.
