Punjab govt still undecided on employees retirement age
Jalandhar, Oct 17 (UNI) Punjab Finance Minister Surinder Singla remained non commital over the possibility of raising retirement age of state government employees from present 58 years to 60 years.
Talking to reporters here today, Mr Singla said that a committee headed by Deputy Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal was entrusted the task of examining this issue and other demands of the employees.
He said that only Ms Bhattal could respond on the issue.
Mr Singla also expressed his agreement with Union Minister of State for Finance Pawan Kumar Bansal over the issue of special package for the state and said that the Centre had already given over Rs 10,000 crore projects to Punjab and therefore there was no no case for additional special package for the state.
Over the demand of waiving of farmers' bank loans, the minister said that the state government had been working to provide relief to farmers from the debt burden.
