Pt Ravi Shankar stable

Kolkata, Oct 17 (UNI) The condition of sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar is stable and he is likely to be discharged from a hospital in the US shortly.

'' Panditji was suffering from pneumonia, but he is now stable. He is expected to be released very soon,'' Mr Robin Pal, a close follower and spokesman for the celebrated musician told UNI.

The 86-year-old sitarist was admitted to a San Diego hospital in California last week following lung problems and was kept under observation.

Mr Pal said admirers had been making calls from different parts of the country every day to know the condition of Pandit Ravi Shankar.
