Probe to continue against ex-DGP
Indore, Oct 17 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh High Court's Indore bench has quashed a lower court order directing a probe against former DGP of the state Swaraj Puri under section 156 (3) and an FIR by Economic Offences Wing (EOW) under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
However, an investigation will continue against him under Section 202 (1) of the Criminal Procedure Code.
After completion of arguments on Mr Puri's revision petition, Justice S S Dwivedi yesterday dismissed the September 15 order by Additional Sessions Judge Akhilesh Pandya, who directed the EOW to submit a report on November 4 -- vis-a-vis Section 202(1).
The Indian Police Service officer was represented by advocates Ajay Gupta, Vivek Tankha and Satish Bagdia. In the wake of the FIR, Mr Puri was transferred as DG (Home Guard).
City-resident Mahesh Garg accused Mr Puri of bypassing the rules for securing admission for his son Shreyas in an engineering college. Last month, his advocate Manohar Dalal moved Mr Pandya's court.
