No hair-cut for Chidambaram for two years

Mumbai, Oct 17 (UNI) Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram did not have a hair-cut for two years.

It was during his two-year study at Harvard Business School when he had to spend his days in penury.

''Per day expenditure for a student at Harvard during my days was 7 dollar for things like book, food and other personal expenses, which was often difficult for me to manage,'' Dr Chidambaram, said while addressing a gathering after launching the inaugural issue of Harvard Business Review (HBR) South Asia from the house of Harvard Business School Publishing (HBSP) here yesterday.

The things were so worse for the Finance Minister that he could not go for a hair-cut during the entire two-year term he spent at Harvard due to lack of money.

''However before leaving for India on completion of study at Harvard, I made it a point that I will go for hair-cut to escape the ire of my mother back home'', said Chidambaram who is one of the 38,249 alumni of the institute from India.

''Though Harvard had prepared me to become a businessman, I ended up being the Finance Minister of the country'', he said with humility.

Mr Chidambaram termed his days spent at Harvard as the best period in his life. ''It taught me to be self reliant in finding answers'', he added.
