Nine persons shortlisted for 'melshanti'

Pathanamthitta, Oct 17: Nine persons have been shortlisted for the post of 'melshanthi' at Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple and Malikappuram Devi Temple and the selection would be through draw of lots to be conducted tomorrow.

The lists were prepared based on interviews at Travancore Devaswom Board headquarters at Thiruvananthapuram on October 9 and 10.

The terms of office for both Melsanthis will be one year beginning the first day of the Malayalam month of 'Thulam'.

Those shortlisted for Malikappuram Melsanthi include G Govindan of Thiruvalla, Dhananjayan K of Vallikkunnam, K C Madhavan of Aluva, S Madhavan of Thiruvalla, Madhusoodanan of Kottarakkara, T K Eswaran of Thiruvananthapuram, N Narayanan of Chennithala, N Dhamodharan of Vaikom and M D Venu of Palakkad, all Namboothiris.
