Missing Amravati ''Sadhvi'' found in Sangli

Nagpur, Oct 17 (UNI) The Jain ''Sadhvi ''(cleric), who had mysteriously disappeared from her home in Amravati on Sunday, has been traced to Sangli in Western Maharashtra.

A police party found Sadhvi Siddhashri, originally known as Samata Khabia (21), at a residence in Sangli this evening. She is being brought to Amravati, and is expected to reach here by tomorrow morning, Commissioner of Police S Jagananath said in Amravati tonight.

Mr Jagananath said Siddhashri was found at the residence of Rajanikant Suryakant alias Raju alias Rajjubhai Talwar (27), who hails from Sangli, but used to accompany the Sadhvi to different places.

''The Sadhvi has been found and is with us. We are bringing her to Amravati. She was not incinerated as was made out earlier, but is very much alive,'' the police commissioner said.

Details about the case would be given to the media tomorrow, he added.

The police had kept a close watch on the activities of Talwar ever since the ''Sadhvi'' mysteriously disappeared, leaving behind a heap of ash.

There was sensation here on Sunday after the she disappeared from her living quarters, amid claims that she had ''miraculously'' been incinerated.

The police had discounted the miracle theory and registered a case of accidental death. The ash had been sent to a forensic laboratory for tests.
