Licences of 222 diagnostic centres cancelled in Punjab
Jalandhar, Oct 17 (UNI) Licences of 222 ultrasound and diagnostic laboratories were suspended in Punjab for allegedly conducting embryonic sex determination tests.
A health department spokesman told media here today that a total of 88 cases had so far been registered under PNDT Act against embryonic sex determination and female foeticide.
He said that about 1300 ultrasound and diagnostic laboratories had so far been registered by the health department and a constant vigil and monitoring of their affairs is being done under the supervision of respective district deputy commissioners.
Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh is also keen on ensuring requisite vigil once and action for curbing the menace of female foeticide in the state, he added.
