Irfan Hussain shocks top seed Samip Mehta

New Delhi, Oct 17 (UNI) Chennai's Irfan Hussain pulled off the biggest upset in DSCL Open National tennis championship, shocking top seed Samip Mehta 6-4, 6-2 to enter the under-14 semi-finals at the DLTA complex here today.

Son of former player Ilyas Hussain, Irfan played with tremendous control and covered the court well to knock out the top seed.

For the second day running, Delhi boy Yuki Bhakmbri had to fight hard as overcame the challenge from a gritty Jugal Marfatia 7-5, 6-4 to enter the last four.

However, third seed Sumeet Shinde and fourth seed Chetan Pandit won their quarterfinal matches in straight sets to complete the semifinal lineup.

Nova Patel provided the surprise package in the girls' under-16 quarter finals, ousting third seed T Nilaya 7-5, 6-4 in a well-contested match.

Delhi girl Gopika Kapur rolled into the semis beating Divya Madku Rao 7-5 6-1.
