HP University Academic Council approves job-oriented courses

Shimla, Oct 17 (UNI) The Academic Council of the Himachal Pradesh University approved introduction of more job-oriented ''add on courses'' in degree colleges of the state affiliated to the university.

The decision to introduce more professional courses in the colleges was taken at the Academic Council meeting held yesterday under the Chairmanship of Vice Chancellor L R Verma here.

It also decided to start LLB (Honours) in the Law Department, besides two M SC Microbiology courses under the self-financing scheme from the next academic session.

The syllabi and examination scheme for B Pharma III and IV semesters was also considered and approved, besides granting affiliation to Homoeopathic College and Hospital at Solan.

Meanwhile, sources in the University told UNI that the council also held discussion on the ''preventive measures'' to be taken to plug leakages of examination papers in future.

The university was likely to file an affidavit in the HP High Court on October 29 listing out measures taken by it to prevent any paper leakage in the future.

The sources said though the university had prepared a blueprint to prevent paper leakage in future, but it has been prepared keeping in view the leakages at the printing level, while no steps have been taken at the University level.

The Council would reconsider the issue and redraw the measures, if necessary, the sources added.
