Himachal Cup para gliding begins from Oct 18

Dharamshala, Oct 17 (UNI) Fifty two Indian and foreign pilots are participating in the Himalayan Cup para gliding, seheduled from October 18 to October 25 at Bir Billing in Dhalauladhar ranges of Kangra valley of Himachal Pradesh.

Commissioner Himachal Tourism and Civil Aviation, in a release here, said all necessary arrangements for the successful completion of the championship have been completed.

He said a technical committee has been constituted under the Chairmanship of Director Western Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, at Manali, comprising Para gliders and engineers to oversee the technical aspects of the tournaments.

Three ambulances fitted with latest safety equipments would be stationed at the landing sites and services of doctors would be made available round the clock, he said.

Mr Shridhar said five additional vehicles would also be positioned for rescue and retrieval purpose round the clock at the landing sites and added that an arrangement has been made to requisition the helicopter services immediately on the call basis.

An Administrative Committee has been set up under the Chairman-ship of Kangra Deputy Commissioner to meet any exigency and ensure smooth conduct of the championship.

He said Himachali participants have been exempted from participation fee, while the other pilots would have pay a fee of 230 Euro Dollar per person.
