Heavy rains likely in Tamil Nadu

Pune, Oct 17 (UNI) Heavy rains are likely to occur at many places in Tamil Nadu.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places in Kerala, at a few places in coastal Karnataka, Lakshadweep and at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal, Orissa, Jammu and Kashmir, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, south interior Karnataka, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Dry weather will prevail over the sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat state, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Telangana and north interior Karnataka.

The south-west monsoon has further withdrawn from remaining parts of the peninsular India Bay of Bengal and of the Arabian Sea and thus from the entire country. Conditions are favourable for the commencement of north-east monsoon rains over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, adjoining parts of Andhra Pradesh and parts of Karnataka during next 2 to 3 days.

In the regions from where the south-west monsoon withdrawal has taken place day temperatures were appreciably above normal in Orissa, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, east Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Konkan, Goa, Vidarbha and in some parts of Gujarat.

The temperatures were appreciably above normal in north Madhya Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, while they were above normal in south Madhya Maharashtra and in some parts of Telangana and Rayalaseema.

They were normal in Jammu and Kashmir, west Rajasthan and in the remaining parts of Chhattisgarh.

Night temperatures were below normal in some parts of Assam, Jharkhand, Bihar and east Uttar Pradesh. They were appreciably to markedly above normal in some parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat Region and Haryana.

The temperatures were above normal in coastal Orissa, Saurashtra, Kutch, north Konkan, Vidarbha, Telangana, coastal and north interior Karnataka, in remaining parts of Assam, Meghalaya and west Madhya Pradesh. They were normal over the rest of the country.

Heavy rains had occurred at many places in Tamil Nadu.

Very light rains had occurred at isolated places in Orissa, Konkan, Goa, Rayalaseema, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Rain or thundershowers had occurred at most places in Kerala, at a few places in coastal Karnataka, Lakshadweep and at isolated places in Assam, Meghalaya, Gangetic West Bengal, coastal Andhra Pradesh and interior Karnataka.

Dry weather prevailed over Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Bihar, Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Telangana.
