Hyderabad, Oct 17 (UNI) GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL) will create additional facilities to cater to 12 million passengers.

A release from the company today said the setting up of new facilities would scale the project cost to Rs 22,813.18 crore. The new facilities would be ready by the time of commencement of its first phase operations in March 2008.

For meeting the additional expenditure, GHIAL had decided to put in an additional investment of Rs 523 crore, including investing in fuel farm facilities.

A decision to this effect was taken at GHIAL Board meeting held in Hyderabad on October 16, 2006, the statement said.

''The additional capital would be raised by way of 100 per cent debt from leading banks. The new facilities would not cause any delay in the project work, which was progressing at a brisk pace'', the statement quoting a company official said.

The additional facilities include increasing aircraft parking bays to 42 from the current 30, setting up two rapid exit taxiways and full length parallel taxiways for enabling quick turn around for aircraft.

Apart from these new facilities, an additional office space for airlines, extra cargo terminal space, additional car parking for passengers and public would be constructed.

For safety and security of the passengers, the company would add additional security equipments, the statement added.
