Genpact to hire 5000 employees in Kolkata by 2010
Kolkata, Oct 17 (UNI) Business services and technology solutions major Genpact today expanded its operations in the city by inaugurating a new facility at Rajarhat and said it would increase its employee strength to 5000 in the city by 2010.
The centre at the new built IT centre by the DLF group has the capacity to accomodate around 1000 professionals, Genpact's site leader- Kolkata Indranil Choudhury said here today.
Mainly knowledge process outsourcing services primarily in the field of finance and accounting, business analytics, software development, IT helpdesk support and insurance would be provided from the centre to Genpact's customers across the globe, Mr Choudhury said.
Genpact, having a workforce of 25,000 professionals in its well spread out operations in US, Mexico, Poland, India and China, currently employs around 375 professionals in Kolkata.
With the opening of the new centre it would be increased to 1500 by 2007 and subsequently taken to 5000 employees in the next three to four years, he said.
"With the huge talent pool available in the state, we will make make Kolkata the hub for knowledge based services," Mr Choudhury said.
The centre was inaugurated by state IT Minister Devesh Das.
