Dont be job seekers, be entrepreneurs: Kalam
Aizawl, Oct 17 (UNI) President APJ Abdul Kalam urged students to become employment generators rather than job seekers.
Speaking at the second convocation of the Mizoram University, he said, ''The present education system should inspire young students to develop entrepreneurship skills.'' ''I have found that out of the total number of graduates passing out every year, around 10 per cent take up research or other specialisation. The remaining 90 per cent try to find jobs. They should acquire the skills to generate employment.'' The President, who was here in the state for a day, said, ''Graduates can become small entrepreneurs with assistance from venture capitalists or banks. This will enable the nation to have more job creators than seekers.'' Dr Kalam felt Indian universities must have research facilities and scope for creativity and innovation. The universities should develop entrepreneurship skills and inculcate moral values and leadership among the students.
