DMK retains Madurai constituency bypoll

Madurai, Oct 17: Ruling DMK's S S Ghouse Basha today won the Madurai bypoll, defeating his nearest AIADMK rival V V Rajan Chellappa by a margin of 31,085 votes.

Mr Basha polled 50,094 votes, while Mr Chellappa polled 19,909 votes.

The bypoll was held on October 11.
