DMK retains Madurai Central Assembly constituency

Madurai, Tamil Nadu Oct 17 (UNI) Ruling DMK's S S Ghouse Basha today won the bypoll for the Madurai Central Assembly constituency, defeating his nearest AIADMK rival V V Rajan Chellappa by a margin of 31,085 votes.

Mr Basha polled 50,094 votes, while Mr Chellappa polled 19,909 votes.

The bypoll was held on October 11.
