Dengue death in Talluru village in AP
Rajahmundry, Oct 17: A 60-year-old person hailing from Talluru village in Gandepalle mandal died of dengue fever here this morning, according to Hospital Superintendent N Venkat Rao.
Talking to UNI, Mr Rao said the victim, P Gurraju was admitted to the hospital on October 13 night with the symptoms of fever. He tested positive of dengue fever and died this morning, he added.
When contacted for confirmation, the district medical and health officer D Jayarama said it was yet to be confirmed whether the death occured due to dengue, old age or a kidney problem.
A clear picture would emerge only tomorrow, he added.
Only three dengue positive cases were reported so far in the district but the patients were out of danger, he said.
Mr Nigam said health education measures have also been intensified by hiring audio-visual vans for carrying out street plays and film shows. Public meetings are being organised involving local leaders and RWA members to get peoples' participation for control of Dengue. People have emptied water from their coolers as per advise of MCD and at present maximum breeding is being detected in uncovered water storage tanks/containers. MCD staff is going to their houses to add Temephos granules in these containers. Mr Nigam He once again sought peoples participation and cooperation for prevention of mosquito breeding, which will help in prevention of Dengue.
Mr Nigam also directed deputy commissioners of the various zones under the MCD to personally undertake field inspections to ensure that anti-Dengue operations are carried out within the areas under their administrative jurisdiction in a systematic and scientific manner.
He directed that focused attention should be paid to the areas/clusters having more incidence of Dengue.
Besides sanctioning additional staff and fogging vans in the most Dengue prone zones i.e. Central, Najafgarh and Shahdara (North), Mr Nigam also gave powers to Deputy Commissioners who engage additional manpower of 1565 domestic breeding checkers as per their requirement.
