Coal production declines by 0.39 MT in September

New Delhi, Oct 17 (UNI) The total coal produced in the country marginally declined by 0.39 million tonnes (MT) to 27.23 MT in September, 2006 from 27.62 MT during the corresponding period last year.

According to data released by the Ministry of Coal here today, the country achieved this coal production as a result of joint production of coal by the public sector, Coal India Ltd (CIL) and Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL), a joint venture company of the Government of India with Andhra Pradesh Government.

The target set for these two companies for the month was 29.97 MT. During the month, CIL and SCCL despatched 20.70 MT coal to power sector.

During the month, e-marketing was conducted in all the coal producing companies of CIL and 1.92 MT of coal was allocated for e-auction. 1,763 were successful out of 2,146 participating bidders and the average gain over the average notified price was 38.1 per cent and that of floor price was 14.5 per cent.
