BJP denies assurance of support to TRS
Hyderabad, Oct 17 (UNI) The BJP today denied giving assurance of support to the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) if it pulled out of the UPA Government at the Centre.
Addressing a press meet here, BJP State President N Indirasena Reddy alleged after falling out with the Manmohan Singh Government, the TRS, which had 'cheated' the electorate jointly with its estranged ally the Congress, was now finding fault with the BJP for deciding to contest the Karimnagar Lok Sabha by-poll.
It was the TRS which came after the BJP pleading for support for statehood for Telangana, he said, adding his party, that facilitated the formation of three new states of Uttaranchal, Chattisgarh and Jharkhand, could alone realise statehood for Telangana.
Even after coming out of the UPA Government, TRS Chief and former Union Labour Minister K Chandrasekara Rao was trying to 'deceive' the people by claiming UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi would agree for a separate Telangana, if he won the Karimnagar seat, he said.
Accusing Mr Rao of insulting the feelings of all Telugus by commenting against the language, he demanded that Mr Rao withdraw his remarks and tender an 'apology' to the Telangana people.
