Alert driver foils an attempted robbery
Mumbai, Oct 17 (UNI) An alert driver foiled an attempted robbery near Sumarnagar junction, at Borivali in the western suburbs of the city.
Police today said, Mr Giriraj Rajmanj Khan (38), an owner of a petrol pump was on his way to the local branch of Bank of Baroda (BoB), to deposit cash worth Rs 18 lakh. He was travelling in his car with his driver.
Near Sumarnagar junction four unidentified miscreants waylaid him. They allegedly smashed the glasses of Mr Khan's car, and threatened him with knives. They also tried to snatch the bag containing the cash from Mr Khan's possession, yesterday.
Meanwhile, Mr Khan's driver started shouting 'chor-chor', attracting the attention of pedestrians. The alleged miscreants panicked and fled from the scene, police said.
Further investigations are on, they added.
