7.5 quintals poppy straw seized at Batote in Jammu

Jammu, Oct 17 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Police have seized 7.5 quintals of poppy straw from a truck at Batote late last evening, sources said today.

A police party intercepted the truck, which was coming from Srinagar, and seized eight large bags of poppy straw, the sources said.

Both driver and conductor were arrested and the truck seized, they added.

''This is for the first time that such a large quantity of poppy straw has been recovered in one seizure,'' they added.
