3 miscreants shot dead by police

Jaunpur, Oct 17 (UNI) Three miscreants intending to rob a bank were gunned down in an encounter here, police today said.

Three pistols and few cartridges were recovered from the spot.

Acting on a tip-off, cops rushed to the Gomti Grameen Bank in Amhit village late last night. On seeing the police, the bandits tried to abscond.

On being challenged, the miscreants opened fire.

In exchange, three miscreants were shot dead and two were nabbed. Another accomplice, however, managed to escape, police said.

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Shachi Ghildiyal has announced a reward of Rs 2,500 to the entire police team, while Rs 10,000 to a inspector general of police (Varanasi zone).
