Two persons arrested for cricket-betting

Rajkot, Oct 16 (UNI) The Quick Response Cell (QRC) Sqaud has arrested two people here allegedly for accepting bets on the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy.

Acting on a tip-off, the QRC sqaud raided a house at Ranchhod Nagar area in the city and arrested the alleged bookies, police said.

The accused were taking bets directly on cellphones for the one day match between India and England at Jaipur.

The police yesterday seized Rs 2,000, six mobile phones, a colour TV set, 20 slips used for betting purposes and two motorcycles, from the accused.

They were identified as Mr Ajay Ganatra and his partner Mr Ramesh, alias Bhuro Gangaram Solanki.

Further investigations are on, police added.
