TN Govt taking steps to set up IT Parks: Official
Chennai, Oct 16 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government is making preliminary arrangements for establishing IT Parks Coimbatore, Madurai, Tiruchirapalli, Salem and Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu Industries Secretary Shaktikanta Das today said.
Participating in the inauguration ceremony for launching the Chennai facility of SITEL India here Mr Das said Tamil Nadu had attracted lot of foreign investments in IT-related industries as the state had plenty of skilled resources in software and hardware.
In a short span of time, Chennai would became the hub for software and hardware. To aid its growth, the government was taking all steps to develop infrastructure in and around Chennai.
Inaugurating the facility, Tamil Nadu IT Secretary C Chandramouli said the present environment was conducive for the growth and development of the IT sector and this got reflected in global companies making fresh investments here.
Referring to the state government's proposal to set up an IT Academy, Dr Chandramouli said the government will hold consultations with international educational institutions on developing the curriculum for IT studies to further hone the students' skills.
US Consul General David T Hopper and Canadian Consulate Counsel and Trade Commissioner W G McEwen and SITEL India CEO Safir Adeni were among those who spoke on the occasion.
