Tension prevails in Chittoor

Chittoor, Oct 16 (UNI) Tension prevailed in the city when Congress and Telugu Desam Party (TDP), parties gathered at the Chittoor Collectors office where TDP was staging a dharna today.

According to police as part of the proposed statewide dharna by TDP in protest against anti-people policy, about 100 TDP workers gathered at the office and sought the resignation of Andhra Pradesh Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, owning moral responsibility for recommending clemency to Gouru Venkata Reddy.

Meanwhile, to counter the dharna, the Congress party activists gathered there and shouted slogans against TDP attitude.

Later police intervened and the congress activists left the place.
