Ten candidates in fray for Talasara(ST) Assembly bypoll

Bhubaneswar, Oct 16 (UNI) Altogether ten candidates remained in the fray for byelection to Talasara(ST) Assembly seat in Orissa after the withdrawal today.

Eleven candidates had filed their nomination papers and all of them were found valid during scrutiny on October 14.

However Jharkhand candidate Lekha Tirkey withdrew the nomination on the last day for withdrawal.

Byelection to Talasara was necessitated following the death of sitting Congress MLA Gajadhar Majhi.

Political observers said although ten candidates were in the fray for the bypoll, but the main battle for the ballot would be confined between ruling BJD candidate Sahadeb Khakha and opposition Congress candidate Dr Prafulla Majhi.

Byelection to the Talasara (ST) Assembly seat would be held on October 30.
