Shastri asks MCD to intensify anti-dengue drive
New Delhi, Oct 16 (UNI) In view of the increasing dengue cases across the capital, Delhi Health Minister Yoganand Shastri today directed MCD to intensify operations to control mosquito breeding.
''People should keep their surroundings clean to check mosquito breeding,'' Dr Shastri said after chairing a review meeting on dengue and vector borne diseases.
Dr Shastri asked the District Health Officers of worst affected areas-- Shahdara North and South, Najafgarh Zone and Central Zone-- to be vigilant and ''pay more attention'' to anti-dengue programmes in their areas.
He asked the Deputy Commissioner to make regular raid in these areas. ''Special cleanliness drives should also be initiated in most effected areas,'' he added.
The Health Minister instructed the MCD, Horticulture Department, Education Department and MCD Deputy Commissioner to work in in tandem to prevent dengue.
He appealed to Delhi Metro and the Delhi Cantonment Board to take preventive measures in their areas to control mosquito breeding.
